Landforms and Mineral Resorces

Types of rocks

The Arctic Cordillera ecozone contains two of Canada's mountain chains. The length of the mountains spread out into two different geological provinces, and have separate kinds of rocks in each area. Mineral resources have not been greatly exploited, however in one area -Canadian shields- there are mixtures of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. and the other area contains mountains of Volcanic rock. Most of the bedrock in te Arctic Cordillera originated in the precambian era over 600 million years ago.
